La' Shawndra received her B.A. in International Studies from The George Washington University at Mount Vernon College in May 1998, her M.A. in Special Education with an emphasis in Transition from The George Washington University in May 2004, and an Ed.S. in Special Education with an emphasis in Acquired Brain Injury in May 2009. La' Shawndra has taught students with learning disabilities, social/emotional disabilities, autism, mild and moderate cognitive impairments, traumatic brain injuries and other health impairments in an inclusive high school setting in Washington, DC. She transitioned out of the classroom to work as a special education coordinator at a Pre-K to 8th grade school. Currently, she is working as a graduate research assistant at National Secondary Transition Technical Assistance Center (NSTTAC) grant at University of North Carolina at Charlotte (UNCC). She is also a doctoral student in the Special Education Department at UNCC, specializing in transition focused education and services.
