They also publish periodic special reports on issues ranging from state policy to technology, as well as books of special interest to educators. The Department of Education's Federal Student Aid Website
The Student Aid website offers information and tools to help consumers select a school, apply for aid, and locate federal student loans. Mitsubishi Electric America Foundation (MEAF) National Grant Program to Support Young People With Disabilities
Grants will be awarded to U.S. nonprofits working to provide access for young people with disabilities to educational, vocational, and recreational opportunities in the company of non-disabled peers. MEAF’s National Grant program provides funding to nonprofit organizations working toward the full inclusion of young people (newborn to early 20s) with disabilities in society. Priority will be given to communities where Mitsubishi Electric U.S. companies are located; preference is given to organizations and projects that reflect collaboration among groups, and those that actively involve people with disabilities in program planning and implementation. Grant amounts vary based on nature of project/organization and duration of proposed activities. Deadline: June 1, 2009.

The Ethel Louise Armstrong (ELA) Foundation Inc.
The ELA Scholarship program provides financial assistance from $500-$2000 for women with physical disabilities who are in graduate school allowing them to pursue their degree, and develop their leadership role within the disability community. Deadline: June 1, 2009.

History Channel: Save Our History Grant
The Save Our History Grant Program inspires youth to become the preservationists in their communities. Museums, historic sites, historical societies, preservation organizations, libraries, and archives are invited to partner with a local school or youth group and apply for funding to help preserve the history of their communities. Maximum award: $10,000. Eligibility: 501(c)(3) history organizations. Deadline: June 5, 2009.

Lindbergh Foundation: Grants for Technological Advancement and Environmental Preservation
The Lindbergh Foundation Grants honor Charles A. and Anne Morrow Lindbergh's legacy by funding projects that improve the quality of all life by seeking a balance between technological advancements and environmental preservation. Maximum award: $10,580. Eligibility: Citizens from all countries may apply. Deadline: June 14, 2009.

Accelerate, a Juried Exhibition of Young Emerging Artists with Disabilities
Very Special Arts (VSA) is now accepting entries for Accelerate, a national juried exhibition of young emerging artists with disabilities. The program is open to artists between the ages of 16 and 25, living in the United States, who have a physical, cognitive, mental, or sensory disability. Submissions must be original work completed within the last three years and after the onset of disability. Eligible media include, but are not limited to, paintings and drawings (oil, watercolor, acrylic, pencil, or charcoal), fine art prints, photography, computer-generated prints, digital art, and time-based media (video, film). The competition will present one grand prize of $20,000, a first award of $10,000, a second award of $6,000, and twelve awards of excellence of $2,000 each. Deadline: June 19, 2009.

The Joshua O’Neill and Zeshan Tabani Enrichment Fund
The Joshua O'Neill and Zeshan Tabani Enrichment Fund offers financial assistance to young adults with Down syndrome who wish to enrich their lives by enrolling in postsecondary programs or taking classes that will help them gain employment, independent living skills, life skills, or others. Up to five grants will be awarded, each grant not to exceed $1000, and the grant may be used to pay for the tuition for a course or postsecondary program at a local college, educational institution, learning center or employment training program. Deadline: July 17, 2009.

CVS: Caremark Community Grants
The CVS Caremark Community Grants program awards funds to nonprofit organizations for programs targeting children with disabilities; programs focusing on health and rehabilitation services; and public schools promoting a greater level of inclusion in student activities and extracurricular programs, and initiatives that give greater access to physical movement and play. Maximum award: $5,000. Deadline: October 31, 2009.

Fund for Teachers: Grants for Travel and Growth Online
The Fund for Teachers makes direct grants to teachers for summer learning opportunities of their own design. Maximum award: $5,000. Eligibility: teachers K-12 with a minimum of three years teaching experience; teachers must be full-time and spend at least 50 percent of the time in the classroom when grants are approved and made. Deadline: varies by state.
