Data Maps
The National Center for Culturally Responsive Educational Systems and the National Institute for Urban School Improvement have developed this interactive website to help states and school districts examine their special education data. The National Academy of Science and the Harvard Civil Rights Project have recently examined the degree to which students from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds are disproportionately represented in particular disability categories and particular kinds of special education placement. In this website, interactive maps and tables present the distributions of students with disabilities across various disability categories by ethnic/racial category and teacher qualifications to help practitioners and policy makers at the local and state levels understand their own status in relationship to disproportionate representation in special education.

2020 Forecast: Creating the Future of Learning
Over the next decade, the most vibrant innovations in education will take place outside traditional institutions. This 2020 Forecast: Creating the Future of Learning presents a critical dilemma facing these institutions: how to reconcile bottom-up developments in education with the traditional top-down hierarchy that is currently in place. Such peripheral innovation will redefine how learning is organized, who comprises the broad “school community,” and what the actual experiences of learners will be like in the future. The validity and role of formal institutions of education will be challenged by key forces of change and will be reconsidered by an expanding group of stakeholders. Together, the pressures of change and new stakeholder demands will create a new future for learning.

The Recovery and Reinvestment Act is an extraordinary response to a crisis unlike any since the Great Depression. With much at stake, the Act provides for unprecedented levels of transparency and accountability so that you will be able to know how, when, and where your tax dollars are being spent. This website, Recovery.gov, will be the main vehicle to provide each and every citizen with the ability to monitor the progress of the recovery. As the centerpiece of the President’s commitment to transparency and accountability, Recovery.gov will feature information on how the Act is working, tools to help you hold the government accountable, and up-to-date data on the expenditure of funds. The site will include information about Federal grant awards and contracts as well as formula grant allocations.
