George Washington University Transition Special Education Certificate Program

The George Washington University is pleased to announce that our Graduate Transition Special Education Certificate Distance Education Program is now recruiting cohorts to begin in Fall '09.  Now in our third your of delivering quality on-line instruction on comprehensive transition best practices and services, the program responds to the IDEA amendments of 2004 (P.L. 108-446) that mandate transition services which include ongoing assessment, curriculum planning, and collaboration with stakeholders such as community agency personnel, school administration and faculty, and parents. In addition, this program meets the CEC Advanced Knowledge and Skills Base for Transition Specialists (2003) which are recognized by most states.

Courses are designed for: graduate students enrolled in special education and related programs (e.g., school counseling, rehabilitation counseling); professionals to include transition specialists and secondary special educators employed by school districts seeking to advance their knowledge of transition planning; professionals working in vocational rehabilitation settings and youth development and services; related service personnel; and advocates and parents.
